“Life is short, break the rules, forgive quickly, kiss slowly, love truly, laugh uncontrollably, and never regret anything that makes you smile. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”–Mark Twain
Mark Twain was right. Why don’t we teach this to our kids? Seize the day!

Yes! I think we need to! There are a lot of great “seize the day” quotes out there, but this is my favorite. I had this copied on an old index card that has moved with me since my 20s. After looking at it for almost 20 years, it feels like it is finally sinking in to my being! 🙂

Unfortunately we don’t really understand that life is short until we have spent half of it.

Maybe that’s the point, though. If we are lucky to realize it, we can then appreciate it for what it is. 🙂
